One of the ways through which innate knowledge of God can be interpreted is that in order to know God, there is no need for complex arguments. For this reason, whenever the Quran argues [for the existence of God], it does no more than draw the attention of man to the simplest and clearest innate perceptions and request him to accept the necessary and undeniable results of these perceptions. In fact, in most cases, the Quran does not even appeal greatly to reasoning but confines itself to warning man against the illusory and false nature of an atheistic belief or tendency, and thereby encourages him to seek God more and more persistently, as it did with regards to the materialists and the root-cause of their beliefs.
